View Full Version : Average mileage of Citroen C5 3.0
Hi Guys
I am getting worried over my car consumption as I used to get 11.4/100KM and after changing my air filter to hurricane I am getting 12.5/100KM which is and was being told is normal by both Mr Jaya and Service Advisors.
But I think it got to do something with the air sensor.Because I was able to get that kinda mileage and which the AA don't accept as they are claiming its impossible to attain that kinda fuel consumption.
So guys help me and those who driving the 3.0 let me know how much are you getting from ur car in the center panel reading.
Now I have reset all the reading when I pumped my petrol earlier. As to really figure out but I am getting very worried as it alarming for me as a owner.Where the service center saying it normal between 12 and 15.Which is not for me as I was able to attain that kinda reading 11.4/100KM which cant be wrong.
So guys do give your view and hope some of you can help.
Thanks in Advance
Adam

Hey bro Adam,
From my experience with K&N, my fuel consumption also went up. I guess the car detects more air going through the Mass Airflow Sensor and adjusts the fuel-air mixture by giving more fuel?
Any techies can shed further light on this?
Guess you can calculate the true mileage by filling full tank, reset the trip meter, then during the next top up to full tank, calculate your consumption using the distance travelled and the amount pumped the 2nd time around. Nowadays the receipt from petrol station has the number of litres pumped, so that's more helpful.
Anyway, I read before that the 3.0 consumption reading is not very accurate. Same for the diesels. Most accurate consumption reading is for the 2.0 petrol (current c5). I think this info can be found in a current discussion in yahoo groups "C5-L".

Which is true Furry but I did not do something like open pod configuration that why I cant really accept the mileage increase. But I think I have to get used to it.Anyone have installed open pod in a C5 before?.I was considering it but I am also worried fuel consumption shoot up.As these days petrol price are climbing higher and higher.

Cow... wonder if the day will come when it is cheaper to pour whisky in instead of petrol... :(
I using shell Formula 95.I downgraded from 98 as the price is a killer.but what you guys say is true that rather use something else instead of petrol if things carry on this way.
But I did not feel any lose when I downgrade the petrol.
