Dear ALL,

I got a little suggestion. i like to kick start a thread that focus solely on C5. Basically it is for us to share known information with regards to replacement part number, certain unique information and also things to take note.

Please feel free to add/amend/delete accordingly.

I will start the ball rolling

A)Common warranty claim item
1) Door hinge ==> When open the car door, if got creaking sound, then can bring car back to C&C for a quick check. Very likely they will change door hinge for you FOC. Do note that as usual, they do not have ready spares and therefore need to wait easily 3 weeks

2) Exterior rubber stripe near to window ==> Common problem area is the 2 front door. If the black color rubber strip is uneven or show sign that it is popping out, can drive back to C&C. They should be able to replace it for you FOC. As usual, be prepare to wait for a few weeks

B) Common complaint but with no solid solution1) Rear aircon is too weak ==> poor design therefore cannot do much about it
2) Front windscreen tio fog by aircon ==> Get a piece of long rectangle antislip matt from autobacc to place over the aircon vent. Or slowly trial on error to adjust the aircon temp & blower speed till the fogging problem ease

C) Common replacement part
Wiper ==> 28cm x 22cm (Do take note that it is difficult to find replacement pcs for the 28cm)

Stock tire profile ==> 225 x 55 x 17

Stock rim profile ==> 5 x 108 (Note: this rim size is quite rare, dun be surprise to go to a large rim shop and they shop owner is only got a handful for you to choose)

D) Useful contact number

Common stockist (Place to buy stock citroen parts then go to your fav workshop to install, kindly note that C&C does not allow BYO parts if you choose to service there.)

i) Kian Hua ==> 6293 3850
ii) Trans Hua ==> 6297 6577

iii)C&C servicing hotline => 6470 8600
iv)Citroen roadside support ==> 6475 9500 (Note that i believe there are certain hour of the days whereby they will subcon this service to AA to help them handle)

E) Common outside workshop
Do not that if you choose to service here during your warranty period instead of going back to C&C, should you encounter any problem which you believe might leads to warranty claim, there is a possiblilty that C&C will tell you that since other ppl have touch your car, likely spoilt by other workshop so will not honour the warranty)

- Thomas & Partner ==> 6483 4044
- BCC

F) Servicing package avaible for Citroen cars
- C&C ==> 6470 8600
They are selling a maintenance package, do take time to read the package coverage, as the package does NOT cover everything that is normally replace during regular service per their maintenance schedule.

- Star Black (Owned by ST Kinetic) ==> 6846 3855
They are selling maintenance package, do take time to read their coverage even though their material coverage is more than C&C package.

I just notice rust on both top corners of back door (driver's side) rubber lining.
Inside the rubber lining seems to have metal piece to stiffen up the rubber lining. If the rubber lining tear water seep into the rubber lining and over time the metal piece inside will rust. This is what happen on my C5. Get the rubber lining replaced if it tears and your C5 is under warranty

Before changing tires, it is important to rise the car hydralic suspension to the highest position (Using the button near to the gear stick). Failure to do this might cause the hydralic suspension fluid tank to leak.

I appreciate and thank you for taking the move. My C5 had also rusted washer near the door hinges when I got my car. Altough they were remedied its makes me think , This are brand new cars and they are rusted from day one.
Haven't they heard of galvanising the parts ?

Hi Guys,

Would like to check if any C5 2.0 or 1.6 THP owners were given the Puncture Kit (a square black box) as described in the manual when you bought your car.

On another matter about the C5, since everything is automatic, I am curious about how do you shutdown and startup the C5. Do you make an effort to switch off the aircond and lights before switching off the ignition or is it ok to just startup with the air cond switched on?

I noticed that in the sgcarmart review, the test car engine has an aluminium heat protection covering 2 tubes as below.

http://www.sgcarmart.com/news/gallery.php?AID=302&CUR=22&TYPE=reviews

On inspection on my C5 engine it appears that they are trying to protect the fuse and wiring which is in close proximity to a heat source.

I noticed that in the Malaysian test car too. I have since followed suit.

Just to share with other C5 owners.

hello AndyC5,

thank you very much for your post :-)

i do not have a puncture kit, but a spare tyre (can't remember whether it's space-saver or full-size).

i generally try to switch off everything (radio, aircon) before switching off the ignition, but sometimes i forget.

likewise, when starting the ignition, i usually wait a while before switching on the aircon (which it is my custom to put on the 'auto' setting).

however (as i have posted on some other thread in this forum) the aircon when on 'auto' will not spool up to its 'max' right away, but to some intermediate setting first and then only after a couple of minutes will it start to blow 'max' (before ultimately settling down as the cabin temp drops). this is in alignment with the "everything is automatic" part of your post, so i guess it would not do a whole lot of harm if one forgets (or is unable to, for whatever reason) once in a while.

Thanks for your reply Kenneth.

This thread on C5 useful information is really helpful.

Due to this info, I found rust spots in the rubber seals of 3 doors in my new C5. Was wondering what did CnC do to your reports?

Do they remove the rubber seal and replace the metal part beneath it or just clean the rust spots away from the rubber seal?

Any more useful info is welcomed on the C5.

Thanks.

Andy

AndyC5,

i have rusty bolt on my C5, securing the front fender panel.
C&C remove the rust and painted the silver coloured bolt with blue paint.

They have also replaced my door hinge due to intermittent clack sounds, without aligning the door back to flush position.

Thanks for your reply.

Another noticeable problem is that at the bottom part of the headlights casing in front of the Horizontal LED line is fogging up with condensation after a long drive.

I think this is unusual and Should not be happening on both left and right headlights casing.

Anyone has any experience about this?

My guess is that there is a problem with the seals and i think moisture has gone in both Headlights casings when the car was in the yard.

Appreciate any feedback guys. Thanks.

hi AndyC5,

mine doesn't have the LEDs (i don't have condensation).

i am sorry you are experiencing it.

It happens,

It should be under warranty as it's a seal problem.

Closely related to the spots I found in my door rubber seals as described in my earlier posting.

Problem detection and solving :D , that's what I like about the Citroen.

Happen to mine 3day old today, exactly the same place regarding the condensation. How did C&C resolve this?

C&C finally decide to help car owner to bring in some of the accessories and do the installation. Please go to their service centre to request they show you a file that contain pic of these accessorise.

Hi,

Just to share my experience with the recent faults on my C5.

1. Suspension fault indicator comes on.
The indicator comes on and off. The car suspension felt soft. This may due to lack of fluid and according to C&C service advisor the fault is due to wear and tear although I do not experience this with the last generation of C5 I had for 7.5 years.

Fault was due to leak in suspension.
Have to change suspension and top up fluid.
Cost of repair about $600 done at C&C. Time taken 3-4 hours

2. Driver side window cannot wind up and down.
Fault due to damage mechanism.
Cost of repair about $600 at C&C workshop.

Regards.

Hi AndyC5

Any chance you could take a photo of the spot(s) where there is rust as well as the extent of condensation at the DRLs because I have no clue where those spots are on my C5. Thank you!

Hi,

An example of the condensation pics can be viewed on the link below as experienced by another forumer.

http://www.citroenchat.com/showthread.php?t=27249

The condensation I experienced was not as bad. Just the bottom portion around the area of the LED lights.

As for the rust spots, if you open the car door, have a good look in between the rubber along the top of the door.

Fortunately both complaints were acknowledged by Citroen Malaysia and under warranty.

Thank you AndyC5.

I must be super lucky or super blur. I've not been able to spot any rust, unless I really rip off the rubber along the top of the door (which I don't intend to because I might not be able to put it back nicely).

Maybe I've not driven the C5 long enough or the rain has not been heavy enough -- no condensation at DRL either.

Better not say anymore...I might be lucky...but only thus far.

Hi bro,

Don't worry too much about it. Maybe it better not to look too closely for minor abnormalities and start enjoying the ride. If you enjoy driving then you will truly enjoy the C5.

Remember to read the manual too, especially about how to set your wiper to the maintenance position which helps when you wash your windscreen. ;)

Enjoy!

Hi,
Also see "http://www.citroenchat.com/showthread.php?t=21538" for some ECU resetting procedures and "http://service.citroen.com"

Register yourself for a free account (trade professional), this would contain all the part number and images for most Citroen vehicles.
