Hello All,

I was thinking of using a vintage Citroen for my wedding next year but was not able to get any useful info. Hope to get some help from the resourceful bros here.. Many thanks in advance!

Hi, not to disappoint you, but I think getting a vintage car is much more difficult than self driving a Gallardo for your wedding.

Firstly, vintage owners are fiercely protective of their investments, and parts aren't readily available if something bad happens, as compared to parts for super cars.

Secondly, true vintage cars can only be driven, I think, up to 10 days in a year. With decorations, you minimally need 2 days.

Thirdly, unless the driver trusts you very very much, he will not let you drive. Some vintage cars don't drive like modern cars so it gets worse.

Fourthly, if your wife is in a can can gown, she won't fit in most vintage, other than a RR. Citroens in that era aren't exactly known for their size.

Notwithstanding, voyager mentioned that a Traction regularly goes to C&C for servicing, and we recently spotted a Charleston. There is a dash of hope, but I hope you do have contingency plans. I wish you all the best.

hello Amat,

sorry i missed your thread earlier.

nextreal has raised some valid points - thank you, nextreal :-)

(most are valid except for the 'size' - if you could somehow manage to track down a DS (but it would be impossible because the owner is really private), the DS actually has a commodious cabin)

but the DS would be super-different from a normal car to drive because of its gearbox and because of its high-pressure hydraulics and interconnected everything (headlights / steering / brakes / suspension).

so, the DS is out of the question.

in my naiveté, i am wondering whether you could approach Republic Auto and ask them to rent you the C6 that they have.

can this kind of thing even be done? if so, the C6 would be much more like a normal car to drive, would look imposing as a wedding car, and would be sufficiently roomy at the rear.

I maybe wrong, but I think I saw that C6 in Republic has been sold in the month of Dec.

I wouldn't really term the C6 a vintage; more like a classic.

And thanks for correcting me on the DS. Haven't seen one in real life before; would love to. :)

Hi Amat,

Sorry can't help much on your question. But congrats on your wedding anyway! Have fun in the process. :D

no la :-)

of course C6 is not vintage.

i was just trying to help Amat (as we all have been) to try to find some sort of workable compromise :-)

Dudes, I really appreciate all your comments and suggestions. Looks like it really a challenge to get something to replicate Shanghai triad leader to get his bride esp in a Citroen to Grand Shanghai for the dinner.. My girl loves Citroen and I am driving a C4 :frflag:

Maybe have to think of alternatives... Or maybe a good excuse to fast forward my plans... A DS4 :bounce::bounce:

if you are among the first fifteen to book a DS4, you'll get a five year warranty and some kind of service package (also for five years), Amat :-)

You can try getting an old 600SEL or even a RR. They definitely are more readily available.

I bought an old 1977 Jag XJ6 Mark II for my wedding. Got it for only $5k and then sold it at $11k after my honeymoon. Due to the 4.2l engine the road tax was a killer. But it was a grand looking dame in pearl white sitting on classy white-wall tires. It had a vintage plate with no. 8111.

We drove down Orchard Rd after our church wedding to the hotel with strings of empty coke cans tied to the back. Really fond memories!

I encourage u to do something different and memorable too. What about a huge convoy of Citroens? I'm sure we can support u!! :)

Hi Amat, I came across this little Ford that looks so cute for a wedding, if you don't mind a ford..
http://thatlittlepinkcar.xanga.com/

unless you are crazy enough to track down the owner of this Traction Avant, and convince him to rent his car.. here's the ONLY lead i have..MIy9CJTVtOo

you can always start with the number plate tracking with LTA
good luck! :)
