Default loss of power/upslope

Hi, new member with a recent purchase of a used "15 cactus. Basic model without the reverse cam and navigation system etc.

Liking the drive but however have some qns, hope anyone can advice.

1) while driving can hear the "docking" sound whenever the gear changes, is this normal?

2) whenever moving up slope esp. MSCP, halfway up the ramp, the car seems to have lost power and stop for a 1 or 2 secs. I need to step more on the accelerator then the car will continue moving up the ramp.
is this normal?

hello Ciki80,

welcome to our community :-)

both are normal - the sound is the changing of the gear, and what we do upslope (in order to prevent that occurrence (which is the car downshifting to a lower gear whilst halfway up a slope) is to use the paddle to select a lower gear (1) before actually mounting the slope.

then the car will hold the gear and you won't experience that sensation that you describe :-)

Thanks for the advice. Will try it out the next time going up mscp.

Btw, for cactus etg5 gearbox, is there anyway to check the ATF cond? Cant find the dipstick for the gear box. Or there isn't any dipstick like some car's gearbox.

This cactus gearbox really behaves like driving a manual car.

hello again :-)

the ETG gearbox is a manual gearbox, with a clutch :-)

the only thing is, there is no clutch pedal because the car tries to anticipate by itself about clutch activation.

so, we have to help it along under circumstances when it's more difficult for the car to anticipate.

because it is a manual gearbox, i am not sure if there is ATF fluid (which, by definition "AT" would be more pertinent to a fully-automatic gearbox).

Hello and thank you for your reply once again.
Maybe a servicing trip to C&C will be able to tell me more on this.
