Default Timing Belt Change Recommendation (C4GP)

Guys,

Did anyone change their timing belt set before at other workshops besides C&C? What is the cost?

C4GP should be running on timing chain right?

hello mykchuen,

i cannot answer your question directly, as i don't go to a service-workshop at AMK Autopoint called Thomas and Partner, but i know many forum-members here do, and have very good things to say about him.

he will be able to help you if you give him a call, i'm sure.

I called United Motor Tradings and their quote is only $530, include water pump. BCC automotive quoted me $1200. C&C quote $1700. I wondering how come United motor pricing so competitive.

Anyway, will call Thomas&Partner tomorrow.

Any other workshop to recommend? C&C quote was too exp or else I dont mind to change there since I just took over the ride and if spotted any minor issue with the car later, at least C&C is more willing to help.

Ya. I remember the SE (Chantel) told me mine is chain type. Don't need to change.

mykchuen,

yours is not a chain (i believe, it's a belt - same as mine, and all my C5).

ours need to change, as you have already understood.

i cannot be sure but it sounds as if (if i am inferring from the 'clues' correctly) that the 1.6 Prince engines have a chain, not a belt.

the 2.0 engines definitely have a belt, from my experience.

Hi,
I am new to this forum, but have been driving C4 Grand for 3 years, mileage around 33k km only. I have serviced my car about 6 or 7 times already, and C&C keeps recommending me to replace my timing belt.

Is it too early for replacement? Can I do manual inspection on the timing belt? How?

Thanks!
