Default Slight whine during low speeds.

Hi guys.

Car has been great all this while. But recently while driving in carpark or slow crawling traffic, i can hear a slight whine in the cabin. At higher speeds, no more. What could be the issue? Anyone experienced this before?

Dave

Mine is 6spd. Year 2011. Its a very light whine at low speeds only. Gearbox oil was replaced at Thomas this feb. Never really paid attention if there was a whine since then. Just started hearing it recently.

I tend to think it might be the engine brake. Is it loud?

Its a very soft whine. Tends to change pitch as i accelerate or lift foot off throttle during slow speeds.

From the way you described, I think I'm hearing that sound too and I got used to it, thinking it's engine brake but I may be wrong

You got a hybrid c5? Haha. What is the rpm like when it happen? If it's above 1400rpm, it may be the turbo whine which is normal.

Hah how i wish bro. Ok did some troubleshooting. The whine goes away once aircon is off. So i guess its got something to do with blower motor or hopefully not the compressor. Though when i wind down windows and drive with aircon on, cannot hear any whine from compressor. So most likely its in the cabin behind dashboard.
