Smile MWTB C5 e-HDi diesel (and EGS) - anyone can share experience?

Hi all,

I'm considering "coming back", to a C5 e-HDi. My dad used to drive the C4P e-HDi for a while. Would like some advice.

1. Anyone with the diesel out there? Seems everyone here has either 2.0, 1.6 THP or 3.0.
Any particular issues? Is the e-HDi very slow? (I estimate 14 sec 0-100 )

2. How does EGS behave compared to ETG6?
Is it a lot worse? I understand there is no "creep".
Also, there seems to be a Sport mode button in the pics, does it make the gear changes faster?
When I used the C4P, ETG6 was a love-hate affair for me, so I have to go in with eyes wide open since I am the one owning.

3. What are servicing costs like?
Will exceed $300-400 for normal servicing at CnC?

Any advice and comments appreciated. Thanks!

hello yodafone,

i can't comment directly on the diesel C5, but to a couple of questions you raised regarding the gearbox:

i think (i am guessing here) an old EGS (ie, one that has seen a few years) would shift less smoothly than an ETG.

i am not sure if there is a sport mode (despite what might be apparent from a marketing photo). if there is, what it would generally do is adjust the upshift points to a higher rpm (meaning, the car hangs on to lower gears for longer). it would not actually result in a quicker shift.

:-)

thanks Voyager, as always!

chey... I thought it would make the shifts faster at the expense of some jerkiness by letting the clutch out faster, ŗ la the racing movies

the gearbox may be a deal breaker... I guess the best thing to do is go and take a look at the car first.
