Default C4 Picasso vs Renault Grand Scenic

Hi all,

I have been looking at both the C4 Picasso and the Renault Grand Scenic. Any comments on these two cars. I need some advise and comments on the Picasso. Generally, the trimmings of the Picasso is better but the Renault seem to have a better drive. Any comments?

thanks!

hello eddy28 :-)

welcome to our community :-)

as you have probably already done your research into the two cars, you'll know that the Grand C4 Picasso is the newer of the two, and i would say (although admittedly not having driven the Grand Scenic) that it's more torsionally rigid, and has a more flexible interior. in addition, it is probable (although this is of course not possible to verify for sure) that it's likely to be the less electronically problematic of the two.

without consulting the respective brochures, i guess the Renault's perception of "a better drive" can probably be attributed to its better power-to-weight ratio (i'm just guessing here), but - as Furry suggests - if a good drive is important to you, you might like to consider the S-Max :-)

My view is going to be short..C4 Grand Picasso is nicer looks wise..Hmm sits also are great..Very good design in terms of aerodynamic..And hip and not quiet like what most MPV does..

And if you choose C4 Grand Picasso kindly take e EGS6 which is better in terms of gearing and fc and pick up..As the 4 speed is an old gearbox which nearing time for expiry as its only 4 speeder gearbox..

Hi all,

Thank you for your feedback. I am still undecided and will probably take some time to decide. I think business not too good for cars. Showroom not crowded at all except Toyota because of the Altis. I think I will take my time and see how the COE goes.

Hi Guys,

I am currently driving a Jap sedan and looking to upgrade to a MPV due to family need. Was scouting around and looking at the usual Toyotas and Hondas. Never cross my mind to look at a continental but the C4GP definitely attracted me with the unique look.

However for the price, it seems like I am better off with an Odyssey. FC and maintenance are real important consideration given the escalating fuel prices (I travel almost 50km per day). Really torn between looks and practicality...

Hi,

Given your requirements, i think you better stick with the japs unless
you are looking for a difference in driving sensation and cost is not a major consideration.

I have a c4gp and it is a totally different experience from my previous toyota estima which i drove many years ago.

If prudence is the rule ,stick with japs and you will be happier at the end of the day., anyway there are many japs mpv out there and honda is a good choice.

same dilemma i had before i bought my c4gp , but i work on gut feel.

cheers.

hi stiook :-)

a warm welcome to you :-)

you would have taken a long time to compile that useful table :-) my uncle (who is in his eighties) still compiles similar tables when he buys cars. as for me, i used to compile such tables for the first couple of cars i bought, but have long since abandoned logic to the irrational rules of the heart :-P (i quickly realised that the cars i ended up buying never really rated very highly on the tables i used to draw up :-P )

the table is very useful, both as a guide to the cars themselves, as well as an indicator of what you yourself value :-)

given your criteria - and thank you for sharing your criteria with us, it helps a great deal - i would concur with mascara that (much as i'm sure many / all of us would love to welcome you as a member of the CitroŽn-owning fraternity) a Japanese MPV might suit your needs better.

the Odyssey is a great car, and it still looks fresh and sleek despite being well into its facelift. my cousin bought one, and her family knows a thing or two about cars as one of the in-laws is a local motoring journalist. having said that, i don't have any personal experience with the Odyssey at all, but for Hondas as a whole, i think it's highly unlikely the ownership experience would be unpleasant.

best wishes with your decision - take your time (it's a wide field out there with your budget) - and please feel welcome to keep returning to this forum... you may just end up being persuaded to buy French :-)

Hi stiook,

Friend who drive the Ody are achieving around 9-10 km/l. Not sure if this is the norm. Believe the Wish or Stream would achieve better FC if that's your priority. Of course, latter two are in a different category altogether compared to the Ody or C4GP.

Voyager nicely sums it up. Take your time to test, touch and feel. One old related thread on this issue as well: http://www.citroenchat.com/forum/ind...f&topic=304.15. ;)
