Hi guys I am currently looking at a 2nd hand C5 year 2011 model.
I have a few questions. 1) What are the common defects/problems that I should be looking out for? eg. aircon compressor? weird sound from engine? 2) Where do you guys go for servicing? Agent or outside workshop? If outside workshop, can I have the address and an estimate of the cost of servicing? Heard horror stories of how expensive a continental car servicing would cost, and spare parts not easily sourced. Please enlighten me on this. 3) How many years of warranty does it comes with? This is the first time I am buying a continental car. Many of my friends advice me not to buy as the cost of servicing is high and spare parts are expensive too. Like to know from fellow owners here what you all think. Thanks! |

1) read through all the threads in the c4 picasso and c5 section , especially on the engine
2) if in doubt, go back C&C 3) 3yr/60k yes your friends are right how committed are u on this purchase, or just see see look look its how u want to look at the glass, half full or half empty stress again : see point 1) above and know what you are getting into, there is too much info on the engine to summarise in one post, do take some time to do reading homework |

I happen to be the owner of a 2011 C5 Exclusive.
So far, I've driven Toyota (Cressida, Corolla), Honda (Odyssey, Civic, Jazz), Mazda 3 and Peugeot 308. I still love the C5 most. |

hello bendi :-)
welcome to our community :-) dtech has given you some very wise counsel already. please do not allow anyone (yourself included) to rush into the purchase - i second dtech in saying that you must know what you are going to be owning. the forum threads here represent a wealth of knowledge accumulated over the years, please take your time to slowly go through, and to use the forum's search engine. sincerely, ken

hi RoyceC :-)
all 2.0L are the AL4 (Confort or Exclusive) as for the visual differentiation, the easiest (most reliable, as well as fastest) is to look for the chrome strip running along the entire windowline of the car. (there are other things such as the headlamps and the wheels, but at a glance, not so easy)
