Default C5 Aircross

Just test drove the new C5 Aircross on Sunday. The car really surprise me. granted that the cabin material may not be the best. I hate the interior hard plastic door panel. Also the infotainment system is not the best and the lack of physical control for aircon controls is irritating. Where the car surprise me is the moment the door is close. The door closing sound is solid, much better sounding then my C5 X7 and the car is very well insulated from outside world just like the old C5 X7. So far I only find Lexus GS, LS, Mercedes S-Class and Audi A8L quieter than my C5 X7. The new foam in the seats is also very comfy. The moment I started driving off, the way the suspension react very much remind me of Hydractive3+. Under hard acceleration, the car pick up quickly enough for me and the engine noise remain very well suppress. At this price, I doubt there is any car more comfortable than C5 Aircross. The Peugeot 3008 and DS7 just feels hard riding and noisy in comparison. IF you got the time, you should go and test drive C5 Aircross.

I was told 1st batch only 4 cars for sale. 3 sold. The listed price is $139,999 after insurance and trade-in rebate. But this is the lower trim, Shine. The Shine+ trim I heard is still waiting for LTA to approve. The different in price is $9000 for panoramic moon roof, full leather seats and 19" rim.

Another disappointing part is the lack of LED headlight for RHD market.

i also tested the car today :-)

the seats are very comfortable, it's quite noticeable.

the ride also approximates well to the long-legged waft of hydropneumatic, just like theory_87 says.

i went to the showroom specifically interested in the C5 Aircross.

but since i had not yet driven the DS 7 (deliberately, since i do not like the exterior at all), i thought might as well just do for fun.

who knows,

i ended up liking the DS 7 (better).

it does not have the waft of the C5 Aircross (go buy one if we love and miss hydropneumatic) but in the end to me the interior ambience of the DS 7 (by which i am not referring to the switches, unique though they are, of course) won me over.

the DS 7 cabin just feels extremely intimate.

The DS7 and C5 Aircross is just too tall for my liking..

Voyager is right, the DS7 interior nice, but the sound system is so-so only.

The rear seats of the C5 Aircross looks thin.

interior is interior :-)

not so much the interior nice, but the feeling imparted by the interior when driving.

i had seen the DS 7 on static display at motor shows before (you can guess, because you all know me well) but i was never impressed by the DS 7.

it was only after i sat behind the wheel and drove it.

the whole thing felt extremely special and i can overlook the exterior :-)

as for C5 Aircross seats, they look crap, i know, but they actually feel very good once you sit on them. honestly the difference is immediately noticeable and gets better the longer the trip.

I think depends if you place visual over comfort. I like DS7 both interior and exterior design. I just feel DS7 suspension is too conventional despite all the marketing claims of DS Active scan. It the same for the old DS5 where the interior design is nice, but the ride quality is poor. Also their sound proofing is not on par with C5 Aircross.

For C5 Aircross, interior quality is below 3008 and DS7, but the ride quality won me over and I place riding quality as 1st on my list. But the glaring omission of led headlight, the manual passenger seat, missing driver memory seat and massaging seats is making me feeling short charge compare to my current C5 X7 Exclusive.

I find the DS7 sound system very good. C5 Aircross backseat although thin, it the same as C4 Spacetourer so not an issue.

If we can swap out DS7 conventional suspension (There should be a cheaper DS7 without active scan suspension in the near future) with C5 Aircross Progressive Hydraulic Suspension, that will be perfect.

That said, as an overall package, I still prefer my current C5 X7.

Wow! I was hard pressed to find a more comfy car than C5 X7. Seems like there's an answer to my dreams!
